The Principal’s Corner

What to do, when you don’t know what to do

Part 1

Don’t Panic!!! Listen to God’s instruction above man’s news. Stay tuned to next month’s edition.

“After this the Moabites and Ammonites, and with them some of the Meunites, came against Jehoshaphat for battle. …..Then Jehoshaphat was afraid and set his face to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.” II Chronicles 20:1, 3

We have all experienced fear. Then like a whirlwind we are asked to make urgent critical choices for our families based on man’s information.

When we read II Chronicles 20, we find Jehoshaphat has just been with this kind of news. As the king, he
had the burden of the entire nation’s safety.

1. He SET himself to seek the Lord. “Then Jehoshaphat was afraid and set his face to seek the LORD, vs 3

In this verse the word set means to devote, consecrate, or commit. He made a choice in this trial to commit to the LORD.

2. He FASTED. “and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah vs. 3

Fasting is a process whereby we empty ourselves of “me, myself, & I” in order to be filled with God. It is intentional. Most of the time when we think of fasting it is keeping yourself from eating for devoting your total attention to prayer, (The Jewish fasts are observed with various degrees of strictness. Sometimes, there was entire abstinence from food. Est_4:16, etc. On other occasions, there appears to have been only a restriction to a very plain diet. Dan_10:3.) but if that is not possible because of health problems you can fast from other things or have a half day fast.

3. He GATHERED with others and ASKED HELP of the Lord “And Judah assembled to seek help from the LORD; from all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.” vs. 4 “Meanwhile all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.” vs. 13

It is so important during trials that we face right now to have other Christians there to help and encourage. Ask others to pray with you and for all those faced with trials. Share the burden first with your family and then your church family. One of the biggest blessings the Lord gives through the local church is the bearing of one another’s burdens. “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” (Phil. 2:4) and “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” (Gal 6:2)

What Graduates are saying…”Christian Antonio” WCA Graduate

As a student of Western Christian Academy, I received an excellent education. Alongside my core classes, I learned more about my relationship with God as well as a great deal of information that would help me to be successful in my future.

Having been a student of Western Christian Academy since the fourth grade and as I prepare to move on to the next chapter of my life, I cannot help but look back at the teachers and classes which helped me to get this far. My teachers were always available to provide support and tutoring whenever I had needed it. My classes challenged me, but I never felt that I would be unable to complete them. Alongside my core classes, I learned how to manage my finances and how to work with the technology that would be an important part of my day-to-day life in the future.

Because of the education I received from Western Christian Academy, I received a high score of twenty-six on my first attempt at the ACT. As I prepare to enter university, I cannot help but feel blessed for the opportunity I was given to study at Western Christian Academy.
