Charity Davis

ENGLISH TEACHER
Hello! My name is Charity Davis. I graduated from Fresno Pacific University with a Bachelor’s Degree in English. After college, I started tutoring adults and children. I absolutely loved teaching, and the challenge of finding ways to help children understand and enjoy learning.

My husband and I currently live in Clovis, CA with our dog, Trixie, and cat, Zig Zag! We love going to coffee shops, taking our dog to the river and parks, and just chilling at home watching movies. We hope to purchase our own home soon, start a family, and add some more animals to the family as well!

I’m very excited to work with each of my new students and create a fun and interesting learning environment.

Revelations 21: 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

The Testimony of Charity Davis

My Christian journey started with my family, how I grew up, and continues today. I grew up in a family of 7. My father was a teacher and my mother was a stay-at-home mom. My parents were devoted to Christ and we often studied the scriptures as a family. Conversations around the home were about Biblical topics and about how God was working in our everyday lives.

When I was about 5 or 6, my parents decided to join a house church, instead of going to a traditional, denominational church. The house church model consisted of a couple hours of studying and discussing scripture as a group. Usually one of the fathers led the conversation, but all were welcome to join in, even children. We sang hymns, prayed for any issues each of the families were going through, and celebrated answers to prayer. Following the several hours of worship and Bible study, we spent the rest of the day eating and playing together. It was a beautiful communion of believers and greatly impacted my view on what a relationship with God looks like.

Growing up, I saw Christ work in the lives of families, and my parents taught us to lean on Jesus in all situations. I always believed in Jesus. I was blessed with a family that instilled those beliefs and faith in me. When I was 15, many of the young adults in our church decided to be baptized, along with my older sister. At that point I had never doubted my faith, but I knew I wasn’t ready to be baptized. I struggled to know whether I really believed because my faith was real, or if it was because I had inherited it from my parents. I decided to hold off on becoming baptized and wanted to study the Gospels and pray before making that decision.

About a year later, I had my first spiritual encounter. I was experiencing some pain that had lasted for hours. I prayed that God would take the pain away. I wasn’t expecting it, but the pain left instantly. I then felt God’s presence in a way I had only heard others describe, but I had never experienced myself. After this event, I knew I was ready to be baptized.

I thank God that He blessed me with that experience, as I have never doubted my faith since. I, like all sinners, have made sinful choices, but God as always brought me back to Him and I continue to learn and grow in Jesus. I wouldn’t say my testimony is over. God continues to answer prayer, teach me, come to my aid when I ask, and give me new challenges. This is my journey in Christ.
