Melissa Wolfe

MULTISUBJECT TEACHER AND FLORIDA REPRESENTATIVE

I am so grateful to be on this journey at Western Christian Academy working alongside
Christian teachers and students, supported with a faith-based curriculum.

While I have spent most of my life in Ohio and Pennsylvania, I now call the sunny state
of Florida home. Over twenty years ago I began my teaching career in Ohio where I
received a Bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University in Elementary Education.
Since then, I have taught all core subjects in various grade levels, ranging from
Kindergarten through eighth grade. In 2010, I earned a Master’s Degree from the
University of Missouri in Educational Technology. Virtual instruction has been an
integral part of my practice as an educator.

In 2009, God answered my prayers with an online career opportunity that allowed me to
teach students throughout the state of Ohio. It was an incredible experience, one which
brought so much insight into the field of online education. I was able to be home with
my daughter, enjoy a career that I loved, and grow as an online instructor and curriculum
writer for fourteen years.

In 2016, I married my wonderful husband, Ken and we formed our beloved, blended
family of five. I love family time more than anything, especially during the holidays! My
favorite activities include reading, bike riding, cooking, and walking along the beach.

The Testimony of Melissa Wolfe

I grew up in a Christian home, going to Sunday mass and attending Catholic School
through 8th grade. I loved learning about Jesus, finding meaning in all of the bible
stories, and the feeling of joy it all brought. As I got older, like many others, I continued
to attend church but was not always living my Christian values.

In 2005, I became a mom, after years of struggling with infertility. It was the most
amazing blessing! During this most wonderful time, simultaneously it was
heartbreaking, as my (first) marriage ended. It was a transformational time in my life.
But, it proved to bring needed change and clarity.

After my daughter was born, I started to seek the Lord more and more. Although I was
raised Catholic and converted to Eastern Orthodoxy while I was married, I had many
non-denominational friends who encouraged me to pursue Christ in a new way. I began
reading the bible more, listening to apologetics podcasts, and making prayer and
scripture reflection part of my daily life. While I still love the tradition and reverence of
Orthodox liturgy, I embrace additional ways to truly have a personal relationship with
Christ.

Acts 17:26-27
27 God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find
him, though he is not far from any one of us.

My faith has gotten me through any pain, heartbreak, or difficulty in life. I cannot
imagine a day without talking to God, and in the stillness of prayer, I can feel His
presence and call on my life. Recently, I devoted several months to creating a Bible
Journal, a brief study of the New Testament. My goal was to use basic language arts
principles to understand the main idea and author’s message in each book. I felt God
calling me to do this and guide me through the process. The journal has helped me to
study the messages in scripture and apply them to my life. One of my favorite verses is:
Romans 12:12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

I hope that my faith journey can help others find their path to the joy of knowing Jesus
Christ.
