Western Christian Academy…is dedicated to assisting families, by providing quality academic programs, from a Christian worldview, through individualized instruction

The teachers and staff are here to encourage you and assist you throughout this amazing adventure in education. Don’t forget that your BEST support is prayer and the Word of God. Remember to ask for guidance, wisdom, patience, insight and whatever you need each day.

Did you know that…

Kids who read at least 20 minutes a day (in addition to their regular homework reading) are more successful in school and develop larger vocabularies?

God tells us:

“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it”(1 Cor 10:13).

If we persevere we often realize later the place of our greatest battle becomes the place of our greatest victory.

2018 WCA Graduate Perspective:

“My experience with Western Christian Academy was one of great importance to me. Having been through the regular school system for most of my education (elementary and middle school), it was a great transition into being homeschooled and being educated by the Western Christian Academy during the last four years.

Not only was I able to be taught in a Christian based atmosphere, but I was also able to learn more about myself along the way. Being homeschooled by Western Christian Academy allowed me to find motivation, ambition, and independence within myself. I am more than grateful to have been a part of this online academy during my 4 years of high school and I wouldn’t have wanted it to be any other way. Thank you Western Christian Academy!” By Annie H.

Rosanna Hightower: Registrar

I am happily married to my best friend Gene, a wonderful Christian man. I am a former homeschooling mom with two grown sons and numerous grandchildren. I have a bilateral deafness of 90%. By utilizing hearing aids, an FM system and SKYPE, I am able to remain a productive member of WCA. My husband is legally blind. He serves as my ears and I serve as his eyes.

“A disability does not define us; it expands us.”

I graduated from Stuttgart American High School in Stuttgart, Germany. Later I attended Calhoun Community College, Faulkner Junior College, Cuesta College and the University of Vienna with a major in Business Management. I served as a missionary to Eastern Europe and Austria for 7 1⁄2 years, smuggling Bibles and ministering to children and women in these countries.

I have had the awesome responsibility and privilege to serve as the school registrar at Western Christian Academy for almost 8 years. I am the former editor of WCA’s Facebook page and current editor of WCA’s monthly newsletter. In my leisure time, I enjoy painting Kindness Rocks and doing “Kindness Outreaches to the Elderly” in our community. I also enjoy traveling, quilting, crocheting and embroidery. I love to cook and enjoy experimenting with new recipes.

My favorite verse is: Deut. 33:12 .

“About Benjamin he said: “Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between his shoulders.”

Introducing 2019-2020 WCA 8th-Grade & 7th-Grade Students:

Ellison and Jedidiah Buagbe

Written By Proud Parent, J. Buagbe

Jedidiah and Ellison are 8th and 7th-grade students of WCA respectively. They are from Ghana but our family moved to Russia for a couple of years for my tour of duty there.

The lack of English speaking schools with a strong Christian foundation in Russia had us looking elsewhere and fortunately, we discovered Western Christian Academy. The boys love the flexible study structure of the school which allows them to keep up despite the massive time zone difference. The amazing teachers who go the extra mile for the boys make their learning experience even that much more enjoyable. Jedidiah and Ellison both enjoy playing videogames, drawing, and baking together. They recently became interested in creating 2D animations. The boys are each other’s best friend. They are very energetic and talkative; Jed more so than Ellison. They are very curious and can enjoy going on conversational tangents about very particular things.

Jedidiah’s favorite subjects are Mathematics and Science. Ellison loves Math also. Jed aspires to be an architect and Ellison’s love for videogames makes him want to become a game designer.

WCA has been a blessing to us and has helped the boys gain independence in their learning process. We look forward to continuing our wonderful relationship with WCA!
