Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Most of us think about “Good Luck” & “4 Leaf Clovers” when we think of St. Patrick’s Day. Shamrocks are a 3 leaf clover and have been a national symbol of Ireland for centuries and while every March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day revelers in the U.S. dress up in their green garb to watch parades and sip green drinks, too often they’re donning four-leaf clovers instead of shamrocks.
The old tale goes like this: St. Patrick used the abundant shamrock of the Emerald Isle to explain the holy trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) in his work to convert Irish people to Christianity, however it is so rare to find a 4 leaf clover, therefore it is considered GOOD LUCK to even find one.
As Christians, we do not need to rely on “Luck” but rather can enjoy experiencing the “Blessing of the Lord” in our lives.
The principle of presenting choices which require disciples of God to think and take personal responsibility over their choices is ubiquitous throughout Scripture. The choice you made to provide your student/s with a quality academic program, presented from a Christian worldview is a choice to help prepare them to be strong Christian leaders in their community and homes. We are changing our world…one student at a time.
Western Christian Academy Teachers and Staff work together with you as parents to help your children develop critical thinking skills, so that they will be able to discern truth from error.
This is your purpose as parents: to inform the conscience (ours first, then that of our children) with God’s eternal truths, and to make known the rewards or consequences of our choices either to obey or disobey, as promised in Scripture.
We then do our best to model what God’s ways look like in our lives, trusting that the light from both, guided by the Holy Spirit, will divinely persuade others to follow Christ with their own heart, mind and soul.
Our purpose is to train our disciples-by constant practice-to distinguish between good and evil, and teaching the wisdom of choosing the good.
“Solid food is for the mature, who by constant practice have their senses (or powers of discernment) trained to distinguish between good and evil.” Hebrews 5:14
Our curriculum emphasizes the development of critical thinking skills, deductive reasoning, and logical thinking to better prepare your students for college and success in life.
Introducing our WCA Alumnus Spotlight
This exists so that past, present and future generations can know and acknowledge the huge amount of work and dedication among our alumni base and for all to understand why Western Christian Academy has been chosen by students and families for generations.
Western Christian Academy has taught 2nd and 3rd generations of students the value of hard work, dedication, faith and commitment to Christ, a will to never give up, and pride in themselves. They have learned the skills to win yet they have also learned how to handle crises…and at times, even defeat. For in this, you learn to overcome future problems and secure solutions to problems facing our society. The diversity of our student population also enables us to learn from each other, thus enabling us to impact many for Christ around the globe.

Introducing WCA Alumni of the Month
1996 Graduate, Aaronne Kessler Stoddard
Aaronne Kessler Stoddard is a 1996 WCA Graduate. She is going to introduce herself, so here goes!
My name is Aaronne Kessler Stoddard. I am 1 of 5 children in the same family who graduated from WCA. Upon my graduation from WCA in 1996, I went to Fresno, CA where I obtained my Bachelor’s degree from Fresno State University in 2002. Next, I attended a “Year in the Son” with Elim Bible Institute which was another life-changing opportunity. Currently I work in the San Luis Obispo County Auditor’s Office.
One of the things that I loved about attending WCA was the flexibility of being able to work and attend school at the same time, thus obtaining invaluable work experience. I also enjoyed being able to focus on school and not having to deal with the issues of bullying and peer pressure.
Homeschooling with WCA, blessed me with plenty of time to enjoy my many outdoor sports and activities. While other students were having 2 hours of homework, I was doing the things I loved!
NEXT MONTH…Meet Aaronne’s brother Jonathan “Luke” Kessler, a 1998 WCA Graduate!

L-R: Elizabeth, her father, Greg, mom, Christian and sister Kaetriana as her Mom and Dad renewed their wedding vows together.
What Elizabeth's Parents are saying about WCA...
We enrolled Elizabeth in WCA almost 3 years ago now.
We chose homeschool for her to help her be closer to what she loved so much as a child…GOD. Elizabeth loves to go to church, attend Vacation Bible School every summer, and be in the Christmas play each year.
Aside from that, Liz loves volleyball, being outside, and the most important these past couple years is her new niece, Faith. She also loves to get out to visit her grandparents in Colorado every chance we get. The family photo was taken there when me and her father renewed our wedding vows in 2015.
We also wanted to have Elizabeth to begin to learn the responsibility of keeping a schedule and managing time on her own. A small roller skating accident 2 years ago did put a slight damper on that. She has been doing a lot of catching up instead. She fell and broke her ankle in 3 places that resulted in a 3.5 hour surgery to reconstruct her ankle.
We plan to let Elizabeth finish high school with WCA because everything is just so easy for all of us and our busy schedules. We appreciate WCA being there for families like us. Thank you WCA!!!

“There are no secrets to success.
It is the result of preparations, hard work, and learning from failure.”—COLIN POWELL
Remind yourself how God has turned a failure into a step to success in your life. Encourage your student/s. Children often do not realize that their parents have experienced similar trials in their lives.

What is the Purpose of Education?
The purpose of education is to educate students in the Bible, language, subject matter, and character.
The purpose of education is to build character and to train children to do right because it is right to do right. Right character training leads a child to focus on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our Faith.
Can you imagine a nation governed by those who has no moral fiber or strength and who make all of their choices and decisions based on their feelings, needs, selfish motivation and desires, conflicts and attitudes?
“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Proverbs 14:12 KJV
Parents, lead the way for your children!
WCA teachers and staff, and our parent-teachers are building on the firm foundation of the Word of God and the Lord Jesus Christ. We serve together as a light in the darkness of this present age, guiding our students to become a light that can be set upon a hill, to illuminate the path for generations to come.
